THE BAVARIAN SYMPHONIE

The Bavarian Symphonie

The Bavarian Symphonie is an orchestral work that beautifully integrates the musical DNA of Bavarian Folk and classical Orchestration. This Composition was born during a significant period of isolation due to the Covid-19 pandemic from 2020 to 2022, a time when I spent 534 days in the Mojave Desert of California, particularly within the expansive desolate landscapes of  Death valley. During this challenging chapter of my life, I experienced profound homesickness after living for 30 years in the United States. My 1955 School Bus transformed into my home, serving as my refuge in this unforgiving and desolate environment,  amid the emotional and physical trials of this time.

Under the constant noise of a Gas Generator and extreme Temperatures ranging from  below 30 and 135 degrees Fahrenheit, the Symphony evolved into  more than a musical experiment. It became a dialogue between tradition and innovation, exploring the balance between the humble and the heroic. The Bavarian Symphonie also addresses the fear of losing the  cherished Bavarian way of life, encapsulating my deep emotional connection to these traditions, its breathtaking landscape and rich values. Rather than merely imitating Bavarian Folk music, the Symphonie transforms these elements, breathing new life into them within a concert hall.

Anticipated to have its premier in July 2026 in Munich, the Bavarian Symphonie will be performed at the ISAR PHILHARMONIE with the esteemed FILMFONIKER ORCHESTRA of Munich conducted by Ingo P. Stefans

This composition does not adhere to a conventional Sonata form, but is structured  in Chapters.

Each Chapter explores various places, Sites, emotions and impressions of my childhood, ranging from Bavarian Landscapes to renowned Landmarks infused with personal memories and emotions.

This journey is propelled by my hopefully unfounded fear of loosing  this beautiful part of the world and its remarkable people forever.

The Chapters:

Overture - Der Watzmann - Der Anstieg - Der Sturm - Neu Schwanstein - Tod von Koenig Ludwig

Der Viktualienmarkt - Der Koenigssee -  Englischer Garten - Die Isar - Landleben - Alpenland - Finale.
